T his past season, OMM decided to take that game-day spirit to a whole new level by adding an unexpected twist to our tailgate lineup ... Mahjong .
We packed our favorite Mahjong sets, portable tables, and a whole lot of team pride, and hit the road to two amazing campuses: Texas Christian University (TCU) and the University of Kentucky . What we discovered is the best way to tailgate is with Mahjong.

We set up our Mahjong tailgates right outside the stadium . We brought tiles, tables, and we had team colors on full display. The moment the tiles started clinking, people were drawn in. Fans wandered over (the UK Men’s soccer team) curious about what was happening. Some were seasoned Mahjong players eager to jump in; others were complete beginners who wanted to learn.
It turns out Mahjong is a perfect match for tailgating. It’s interactive, inclusive, and brings people together in a way that feels effortless and fun. The laughter, the energy, and the sound of tiles shuffling mixed perfectly with the excitement of game day.

At TCU , the energy was electric. As fans in purple set up their tents and grills, our Mahjong t ent became an instant attraction. Within minutes, we had a crowd gathere d . S tudents, alumni, and families all eager to see what was in the Oh My Mahjong Gameday Tent . One group of fans told us they’d been looking for a new tailgate tradition, and by halftime, they were already planning to buy their own Mahjong set.
Then came Kentucky , where the blue-and-white pride runs deep. We set up near the stadium, and it didn’t take long before the tiles started drawing attention again. A few lifelong Mahjong players joined in, teaching newcomers as they played. Between cheers, laughter, some fun drinks and snacks , the game became a natural extension of the tailgate experience.
It didn’t matter whether people were cheering for the Wildcats or the Horned Frogs ... at the Mahjo ng tab le, everyone was part of the same team.
